Building on the Proyecto Enlace experience in the Quiché Province of Guatemala, this project ensured that the technology that had been introduced into Quiché teacher-training schools was systematic and sustainable and that educational leadership in the use and application of technology was cultivated. Project work focused on the following areas: (1) applying information and communication technology (ICT) to teacher professional development; (2) strengthening the existing ICT centers and establishing a minimum of seven new Bilingual Education Technology Centers of Excellence; (3) developing multimedia materials to increase access to resources and meet learning needs; (4) building educational leadership in technology through training; and (5) strengthening education-community links and enhancing demand to ensure sustainability. The project was part of the larger dot-EDU program funded by USAID and directed by EDC and several partners.
