The objective of the Internet for Yemeni High Schools project is to link information and communication technology (ICT) use and teacher training in high schools in rural and urban Yemen. Teachers and principals are trained in the use of student-centered teaching/learning methodologies such as inquiry teaching, cooperative learning, and problem-based learning. The project also trains master trainers on computer and Internet skills and collaborative projects using the Internet. This cascaded training approach enables master trainers to transfer their newly acquired knowledge to other teachers in their respective schools. Student learning is improved by allowing Yemeni students, and girls in particular, to do research, access information, share information with, and learn from other students in Yemen, the region, and the US; and to assess the impact of the use of ICT as a teaching and learning tool in the selected schools in Yemen.
