Early Childhood Care and Education Study for the Ministry of Education of Trinidad and Tobago

EDC is conducting an early childhood care and education (ECCE) study that will support the government of Trinidad and Tobago’s vision of high-quality, accessible ECCE services for all young children, regardless of socio-economic status, physical or cognitive challenges, gender or ethnicity. The study will provide the government with data and recommendations that will inform the implementation of ECCE reforms that improve ECCE performance and policies, align ECCE standards and practices with primary education to create a seamless system, and advance systems that more successfully prepare teachers to offer a better early childhood experience to the children of Trinidad and Tobago. Several specific topics will be examined, including the current adequacy of ECCE programs, government and local partnerships with private, public, and non-government actors to promote comprehensive learning environments for young children, and financial/human capacity issues that impact ECCE.
