Botswana Living Life Skills Project

The Botswana Living Life Skills Project is a five-year program funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. It works with the Ministry of Education and Skills Development (MOESD) to build teacher capacity in primary and secondary schools to implement effective, comprehensive life skills programs. Together with MOESD, EDC developed the Living: Skills for Life, Botswana’s Window of Hope curriculum materials, including learner worksheets and teacher guides for standards 1 through 5. Designed for primary and secondary students, Living: Skills for Life teaches young people about respecting others, taking personal responsibility, and making healthy decisions, with the goal of educating them on HIV, AIDS, and sexually transmitted infections. To support teachers in implementing Living: Skills for Life, EDC conducted mentoring and coaching via site visits across Botswana. EDC also trained youth in becoming peer educators and active community members.
