Orphans and Vulnerable Children

IDD works in many places where children are victims of severe poverty, recent or on-going conflicts, the HIV/AIDS epidemic, lack of proper health services and nutrition, and other factors that affect their ability to learn and develop. We devise strategies to reach these underserved, very poor and remote learners, combining our expertise with affordable technologies that provide new opportunities to learn and improve the quality of teaching and learning. Our programs are reaching thousands of orphans, child laborers, refugees, and nomads through the use of interactive radio instruction (IRI) and other distance learning technologies. IRI programs–with their low cost, creativity, and ease of implementation– provide education and life skills information and are especially effective with these students.
