Student-centered teaching and learning

Student-centered teaching methods, which encourage interaction and creative activity, invigorating teachers and students alike. IDD programs use a variety of these methods, such as face-to-face teacher training, Interactive Radio Instruction (IRI), and project-based learning to foster innovation and excitement about learning.
IDD programs aim to empower teachers to design and implement creative lessons that engage students in physical and mental activity and encourage interactions with other students, the teacher, and the community. Students sing songs, play games, create projects, build on their own experience, and use higher order thinking skills such as analysis and synthesis.
To ensure that communities support and reinforce teachers' efforts, IDD projects engage a range of community leaders—head teachers, teachers’ college professors, school inspectors, government education officials, and local community groups—in teacher skill-building programs.
