Public-Private Partnerships
IDD cultivates partnerships at all levels to develop programs that will fight poverty and increase human and economic capacity. Strong partnerships enable our programs to make the best use of public and private resources to provide lasting benefits.
Our collaborations with international organizations have enhanced programming around the world. Working with the Freeplay Foundation, IDD projects have provided schools and communities with no-cost, battery-free wind-up radios for educational programming. Through a partnership with the GEFoundation, IDD conducted research on early childhood and school-to-work programming needs in India, China, and Mexico. The dot-EDU initiative, a USAID-funded cooperative agreement designed to improve education through the use of information and communication technology, has worked with IBM, SchoolNet, Harvard University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, KidSmart, and others to achieve its goals.
At the local level, IES partnerships with community organizations enhance all aspects of our programs–augmenting activities, ensuring local relevance, building local capacity, and improving sustainability. Partners include small and large businesses, non-governmental organizations, faith-based organizations, and parent-teacher associations.
