About EDC

dot-EDU

The dot-EDU Associate Award was created by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in response to a need to fortify education systems in developing countries and societies in transition. Dot-EDU seeks to improve quality, expand access and enhance equity of programs in basic education, teacher training and higher education through carefully planned applications of digital and broadcast technology. Dot-EDU is part of the dot-COM Alliance.

Dot-EDU provides training and technical assistance to support USAID missions by developing and implementing technology-assisted applications related to learning systems consistent with their strategic objectives and results frameworks. It also conducts pilot projects and prepares knowledge products using available core resources, matched by its own resources and other outside funds. These activities result in improved understanding, strategic planning and implementation of technology-assisted educational applications in developing countries.

Education Development Center, Inc. (EDC) is the prime award recipient for dot-EDU. EDC works with several grantees, as well as dozens of resource partners to provide innovative, sustainable learning services and technologies.
